We will explore notable technologies this year to help us project the ICT trends in the next decade.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

The ability of computers to learn and do task intelligently. AI continuously transforms our digital world.

Resources and Tools for AI & ML

Awesome Artificial Intelligence

GitHub have awesome list repositories for different interests. The items in the list were contributed by the community by submitting pull requests.

Google Cloud Platform

Google provides AI and ML tools both paid and free. Note: Google AI tools will require you to input credit card details to get started.

IBM Cloud

IBM also provides tools to enable AI & ML to your apps via cloud computing. Most of the resources have free tiers (no credit card required) and they also provide $200 free credit if you register with your card.

Azure AI

Microsoft Azure includes 12 months of in-demand free services, $200 free credits and 25+ permanently free services. Users will then be charged if they choose to upgrade their plan.

Microsoft also offers services like building and training machine learning models and provide assistive tools for building intelligent apps.

Amazon Web Services

Amazon also offers a wide range of AI & ML tools and has free tiers for their users.

Users are required to input their credit card information to be registered.

Kaggle

Kaggle includes free data sets and Jupyter Notebooks environment. Usrs can also access free GPUs online for conducting high demand computations.

Firebase ML Tools

Firebase, another product of Google also includes developer friendly machine learning APIs. They have also services where you can train ML models with one dataset and 1000 images for three training hours.
The Internet of Things (IoT)

Development of "smart" devices and objects that are connected to the internet. These devices are constantly gathering and transmitting data - these are often paired with Big Data and AI.

Resources for IoT

Getting Started with IoT

  • Get to know Arduino
  • Learn app development
  • Learn cloud computing
  • Learn how to use app containers like Docker.

Examples: Amazon Go, DIY Smart Home

Augmented Humans, Smart Wearables

From fitness trackers to a whole industry of wearable technologies designed to improve how we live. Big companies run by popular tech guys like Elon Musk develop projects where eventually, humans merge with technology to create "augmented humans" or "transhumans."

Example: Neural Link

Neuralink is creating the future of brain interfaces: building devices now that will help people with paralysis and inventing new technologies that will expand human abilities through augmentation.
